A Legacy of Care, A Call to Change

Caring for others runs deep in my veins. As the daughter of two nurses and a nurse leader myself, I grew up surrounded by a legacy of compassion and service. For years, I dedicated myself to my patients, always striving for the best, most evidence-based care. But as I rose through the ranks of hospital leadership, I saw the cracks in our healthcare system-especially for women like me. The “preventative” and “acute care” models weren’t enough. I watched women, mothers, professionals-my friends, my colleagues, myself-struggle to keep up with impossible expectations, sacrificing our health and happiness for everyone else.

Breaking Point: When the Caregiver Needs Care

My own journey took a turn when I found myself utterly depleted. I was leading teams at a world-renowned hospital, juggling three young children, supporting my husband’s career transition, and pursuing a dual MSN/MBA at Johns Hopkins. The weight of responsibility was crushing. I lost touch with the things that brought me joy-time with my kids, the gym, even simple self-care. Then came the health crises: hospitalizations, unexplained pain, and a body that felt like it was betraying me. Conventional medicine offered little more than prescriptions and shrugged shoulders. I was told my labs were “within normal limits,” but I knew something was deeply wrong.

The Turning Point: Choosing Myself, For My Family

I hit rock bottom-physically, mentally, and emotionally. I realized I couldn’t pour from an empty cup. I needed to heal, not just for me, but for my children, my husband, and every woman who felt invisible and unheard. The guilt was overwhelming, especially when I missed signs that my own daughter was struggling. That heartbreak became my wake-up call: I had to become the provider I wished I’d had, for myself and for others.

Facing Doubt, Embracing Purpose

Imposter syndrome haunted me. Who was I to lead others when I was still fighting my own battles? I’d lost 100 pounds before-unhealthily-and knew firsthand how misguided most advice about women’s health, weight loss, and wellness really is. I questioned whether I needed more credentials, more answers. But I also knew that what women needed wasn’t just another diet or fitness plan. We needed a new approach-one that honored our whole selves.

Finding My Path: Functional Medicine

My journey into functional medicine began with a thirst for knowledge and a desire to help my parents live healthier lives. I dove into medical journals, nutrition research, and the science of healing. Along the way, mentors and coaches encouraged me to blend my clinical expertise with my passion for fitness and holistic health. I learned that true healing means addressing the root causes-physical, emotional, and spiritual. It means giving ourselves grace and recognizing how deeply connected our bodies and minds truly are.

A New Mission: Empowering Women to Heal

Functional medicine gave me hope-and a sense of purpose. It showed me that we can do better for ourselves and each other. I left a secure leadership role to walk a new path, one that isn’t always understood by others but feels undeniably right. I know what it’s like to feel lost, guilty, and alone. I also know the power of community, education, and compassionate care.
